Boston Herald Poker Columnist Wins Foxwoods Poker Tournament

The resident poker expert and columnist for the Boston Sunday Herald showed November 11th why readers should be listening to his poker advice.

Poker guru Bernard Lee won $369,919 in the $500,000 No-Limit Event held at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket Conn. November 12th, he is set to try his luck once more at the $1 million event.

His win represents his very first tournament title, and his second most lucrative win in terms of cash.

"It's been a pretty wild couple days," Lee said through a phone interview after collecting his winnings. "It's 11:42 (p.m.). I've had 2 hours sleep and I'm high as a kite."

The tournament began Friday, November 10th in the afternoon with 228 poker players.

"We played down to 20 people Friday," Lee said, "and those 20 people came back at 2 p.m. (yesterday) and just after 10 p.m., I guess it was around 10:30 . . . it was all over. I'd won."

During the interview, Lee was still on a high with his good fortune and was still reluctant to share too much of his winning strategy. He's probably saving it up for his "Final Table" column at the Herald.

Lee, a Wayland resident, has been writing for The Herald for two years, and is also a columnist for the ESPN.com Poker Club web site. He also placed 13th at the 2005 World Series of Poker.
